Below are County Boards that the Commissioners are soliciting letters of interest from citizens who are interested in participating in local government and serving their community:

All interested applicants must submit a letter of interest to the Clerk and Recorders office by Monday Dec. 4, 2023. Any individual interested must be a resident of Custer County. The Board of Commissioners will review all letters of interest and will schedule to make appointments before the end of December 2023.

COMPENSATION BOARD

This advisory board is to recommend a salary schedule for certain county officers as provided for in MCA 7-4-2503(4). County Attorney is a permanent member per statute.

The county compensation board shall hold hearings annually for the purpose of reviewing the compensation paid to county officers. The county compensation board may consider the compensation paid to comparable officials in other Montana counties, other states, state government, federal government, and private enterprise.

FAIR BOARD

7-21-3401 through 3403 MCA; The Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution (9/91) establishing a five (5) member fair commission. The board members must be residents of the county, and will serve three (3) year terms. Meets monthly, the second Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. at the Event Center – $100.00 compensation per year. Resolution 2014-26 (April 15, 2014) Increasing Board to seven members.

CUSTER COUNTY TRANSIT ADVISORY BOARD

To serve as Transportation Advisory Council (TAC). Five (5) member board that meets on the 3rd Wednesday, quarterly (January, April, July and October).

SOLID WASTE BOARD

7-13-214 MCA. The Board shall consist of not less than seven (7) members: one (1) county commissioner, one (1) member from each incorporated city or town that is in the district, and one member from the City/County Health Board. The rest of the board shall consist of interested citizens, distributed equally throughout the district. Also see Solid Waste Board By-Laws. Term of Office: 3 years. Six Board members. Meets quarterly (Jan., April, July and Oct.), third Wednesday of month, 5:30 pm., at Custer County Courthouse Commissioners’ Office. (Changed to Quarterly August 2016, effect. October)

TAX APPEAL BOARD

15-15-101 MCA: Three (3) member board with members serving staggered terms of three (3) years each. Board must meet on the third Monday of April of each year to hear protests concerning assessments made by the Department of Revenue.
