The Custer County Government has a history of investing and providing services that have an impact or potentially affect every resident of Custer County. M.C.A. statutes mandate some of these services, others on needs and opportunities. The County governing body has been able to provide these services through planning, fiscally responsible spending and accurate budgeting.
None of the following services receives any financial payment from the City Government.

- Victim Witness Advocacy
- Felony Criminal Prosecution

- Mosquito Spraying
- Law Enforcement Mutual Aid
- Fire Response Mutual Aid
- Search and Rescue
- Disaster Emergency Services (DES)
- Public Health Services
Both local governments cost share the following through an Inter-Local Agreement:
- 911 Emergency Dispatching Services
- Emergency Response Ambulance Services (outside the City limits)
- Sanitarian Services
- Animal Control (outside the City limits)
The Custer County Government financially contributes through contracts to assist funding with:
- City Library
- City Airport
- School Resource Officer
Grants applied for and received for all citizens of Custer County
- Community Housing Needs Assessment $30,000
- TSED Grant for Economic Development, MT Dept of Commerce $47.5 Million, split between Custer, Fallon, Rosebud County and Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. Custer 40% maximum $19 Million with 5% match required.
