Utilizing money received from the wind farm impact fees, Custer County has made a significant investment in improving our gravel roads. The purchase of Walk ‘n’ Roll packers will allow simultaneous blading and compacting of the road surface. These packers are designed to mount onto the motor graders and are operated with the hydraulics of the motor grader. This dual functionality is expected to enhance road quality and reduce maintenance cost. The Walk ‘n’ Roll packers are particularly effective in conserving moisture during dry spells and sealing out moisture during wet conditions, which helps maintain the integrity of the gravel roads.
This purchase is part of Custer County’s broader efforts to ensure safer and more durable roadways for its residents.
